1. Different subjects

1. Earth pressure balance: refers to the earth pressure balance shield, which is a closed shield.

2. Pipe jacking mud and water balance: It is a mechanical and automated pipe jacking construction method that uses full-section cutting of soil, uses mud and water pressure to balance soil pressure and groundwater pressure, and uses mud and water as the medium for transporting spoil soil.

2. Different uses

1. Earth pressure balance: able to withstand the pressure from the formation and prevent the intrusion of groundwater or quicksand.

2. Mud and water balance for pipe jacking: Compared with manual pipe jacking, the construction cost is high, but when the geological conditions are quicksand, mechanical pipe jacking using mud and water balance is safer than manual pipe jacking.

3. Different compositions

1. Earth pressure balance: It mainly plays the role of protecting the excavated soil and ensuring the safety of workers and mechanical equipment.

2. Pipe jacking mud and water balance: It is mainly composed of pipe jacking machine head, ground operation platform and other auxiliary equipment. There is a PLC control box inside the machine head. The ground operation station team sends action signals to the machine head to control the movement of the machine head.
